Marketplace at the Oregon Truffle Festival 2014

We'd been talking about it for several years, but for whatever reason had never managed to put together a trip to the annual Oregon Truffle Festival.  This year, at long last, we did it.  Well, at least to the Marketplace component held on Sunday, January 26th at the Eugene Hilton Hotel.  Perhaps another time you'll find us at other events such as the Grand Truffle Dinner, the Truffle Dog Training, or the Truffle Growers' Forum.  However, with prices topping out at $1,050/person for the entire experience, it may be a while before we invest in the full Oregon Truffle Festival.

So, what did we think of the Marketplace?  All in all, it was fun, informative and provided a day of superb entertainment and tasting.

Jars of dehydrated white chanterelles proudly line the pantry shelf.  What to do with their contents? 

There simply can't be too many preparations more tasty than Lamb Steaks with White Chanterelles.  Almost sinfully rich and packed with a complexity of flavors and textures, this entree is sure to please everyone at the dinner table.  Come to think of it, it may be just the ultimate choice for a Valentine's Day dish!
