It was a Groupon that took us to The Depot Restaurant on the Long Beach peninsula in southwestern Washington, but it's the food that will draw us back. What a great dinner, complimented by attentive service and pleasant surroundings.
The Depot Restaurant has gathered acclaim far and wide, winning such titles as best fine dining, best desserts, best chowder, best romantic atmosphere, etc. But, when you come right down to it, it's what you experience that makes a restaurant noteworthy. And, our experience was flawless.
All the rains this spring ensured bountiful blossoms.
We started off with glasses of white Lillet and an appetizer of Peruvian Mango Sea Scallops with Pickled Red Onions, one of their signature dishes. My entree choice was the Southern Comfort Pork, tempted by the accompanying yam mashers and the jalapeno creamed corn. Steven opted for the Braised Lamb Shank in a curry saffron broth with couscous, pine nuts and golden raisins. Everything was simply devine, and we concluded our feast by ordering a large sized take out box.
If you go to The Depot Restaurant, you may wish to save your visit for a special occasion when you're prepared for a larger ticket. Entrees are on the expensive side, running about $29/plate. On the other hand, the portions are generous and absolutely delicious, the waitstaff is friendly and efficient, and the atmosphere makes the evening memorable.
