Would you have lunch and dinner in the same restaurant? Well, I think you would if you were in Roseburg, and the restaurant was Brix 527. That's what I did a couple of months ago.
Steven and I headed off to Roseburg early one morning in April so that I could attend a business conference (TOC-OWA; The Oregon Consortium / Oregon Workforce Alliance), arriving in town just in time for a quick lunch before joining the afternoon session. The restaurant was packed, and the crowd was alive. Sounds echoed off the brick wall that lines the room. We debated, "Did we want the small table with the high chairs or did we want to wait? The answer was a quick, "Yes, let's take it - we're running late."
Brix 527 is an enjoyable eating place
on the way to Crater Lake.
Our lunch selections were presented in short order, the salad special for me (Caesar Salad with a Cheeseburger Patty - sounds very odd, but it worked!) and a Bacon Burger for Steven (the patty was juicy and there was sufficient bacon to satisfy). We resisted joining the line of people at the pastry case who were purchasing scrumptious looking brownies and other goodies for their afternoon treat.
A group of us from TOC-OWA went back to Brix 527 for dinner that Thursday evening. Usually only open for dinners on Friday night, the restaurant was accommodating several other private parties. I was not too hungry - the Caesar salad had been large and satisfying, and the dinner hour was too early for someone like me who usually dines at 9:00 PM. My choices were limited to the incredibly rich and absolutely delicious Hot Artichoke Dip, another Caesar Salad, and a quite wonderful dessert which was described as Tiramisu, but which appeared to be a brownie-based concoction.
It was a short walk back to the hotel after dinner. Steven greeted me with a question, "Well, how was it having lunch and dinner at the same restaurant?" I replied with a satisfied smile on my face, "Brix is great!"
