As of September 10th, the chantrelles have been few and far between. After a nice rain in late August (3-1/2” in 36 hours here on our property!), it has been dry, and the few mushrooms we’ve seen have been small and dry. Lobsters, of course, have been out for weeks – not plentiful, but available. We’ve seen no Boletes yet. This has been our experience here on our property so far, which is usually indicative for the whole area, but as always we must remind you that others around the south coast may be finding ‘em. We aren’t – yet!
There's no shortage of slime molds
and other oddities on the forest floor at this time of year.
